Rebecca Webster

Chairlady - Miss Anguilla National Queen Pageant 2008

Rebecca has been involved with Anguilla’s carnival from the age of 16 when she was crowned the first Miss CCB Talented Teen in 1995. She is also a former Miss Anguilla contestant. Rebecca made her calypso debut as “Queen B” in 2002 and has been singing calypso ever since. She is presently the (3) time crowned Female Calypso Queen of Anguilla and in August 2006 was the crowned the Calypso Monarch of Anguilla. Rebecca has been employed with Merchants Market Wholesale food distributors for over 10 years as a salesperson and is also the manager of her own retail store. She has always been a supporter of Carnival and this year has taken up the challenge of chairing this years Miss Anguilla Queen Pageant.

 

 

Patricia Harrigan

Public Relations Officer

Patricia Harrigan recently relocated to Anguilla where, from a very early age, she frequently visited and had always considered her second home, from her native St. Martin.  Patricia is a graduate of Howard University, where she completed her BBA in International Business with the concentration in Finance.  Upon completion of her studies, Patricia quickly pursued a career in the Hospitality and Hotel Industry working at the Hyatt Regency in Washington DC, and traveling on to London where she worked with the European Luxury collection Rocco Forte Brown’s Hotel.  She has been residing in Anguilla for just over one year now, and in appreciation to her achievements and successes, she has chosen to give back to the community through volunteering and getting involved wherever she possibly can.  Patricia is presently employed by the Government of Anguilla, working in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Investment, Commerce and Tourism, as Project Officer; this is her second consecutive year volunteering her service to the Carnival Committee, she has recently been inducted as a member of Optimist Club of Anguilla and serves as Secretary, she is also on the Executive Board of Klassique Academy of Dance, Anguilla. 

 

 

Valencia Prentice-Connor

Entertainment Coordinator

Mrs. Valencia Prentice-Connor was born on the island of Nevis and has recently moved to Anguilla, where she now makes her home. Val, as she is affectionately known by friends and peers has always exhibit an interest in self development which has led her at a very youthful age to seek personal growth through education.  She enrolled at the Lindenwood University and was successful in her pursuit, earning Bachelors Degrees in Accounting, Management Information Systems and Dance.  Valencia then entered the Graduate Webster University and successfully pursued a Masters of Science in Finance.
Throughout this time Val has maintained a genuine interest in Dance and Theater, which are readily regarded as her passion.  During her tenure at Lindenwood, Valencia was a performing member of the Lionettes Dance Team and choreographed dances for the annual Cultural and Students' Concerts.  During these performances, she was always mindful to present a distinct Caribbean taste and favor to the wide appreciation of her audiences.  She has been a member of the former Talawa Drama Theatre in St. Kitts, where her hard work, diligence and creativity have earned her many accolades. True to her nature she has again immersed herself in the Arts and has become the Founder, President and Tutor of KAODA (Klassique Academy of Dance Anguilla), where she hopes to make a valuable contribution to her adopted land.   Valencia has been an avid supporter of Carnival Activities in her native St. Kitts and hopes to transform this interest to Anguilla.

 

Samara Gumbs

Role - Miss Anguilla National Queen Pageant 2008

Samara Gumbs  is a first time Queens committee member. However, miss Gumbs is no stranger to the stage or the management thereof. She attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City where she majored in Theatre Arts. Samara has been a Theatre actress and stage manager in such productions as Cabaret, Antigone, Pippin, A View From the Bridge and A Doll’s house. Along with her love of theatre she also has a passion for interior design and is now employed as assistant interior designer at the local Architectural firm of KCG & Co LTD. Ms. Gumbs is delighted to lend her talents and experience by serving as a member of the committee to ensure that the Miss Anguilla  Pageant 2008 is a success

 

Gecheal Richardson

Financial Controller - Anguilla National Carnival Committee

Gecheal has been involved on the Carnival Committee since 1992. An avid carnival and especially calypso lover, she acts as Financial Controller to the Carnival Committee. Her diligent work ethic and impeccable financial management makes her a key asset to the organization of The Miss Anguilla Pageant 07.
