As an active member in the community, she participated in many community groups such as Interact, AYPA, Girls Brigade and the All Ah We Dance Theatre Group. Just recently, she was involved with a peer mentorship program at the University of the Virgin Islands. She has served as Public Relations Officer for the Rotaract Club at UVI and has recently been elected as president of the club. She also mentored with the Family Life Centre “At Risk Program”. In addition, she is an active member of the Anguilla Summer Festival, Prince and Princess Show Committee.
Kafi believes that the foundation of every success story in life starts with supportive family and friends who push you to attain what you may deem possible or impossible and who is there for you emotionally and physically as well. With this conviction Kafi has accomplished many goals.
Kafi was crowned the first ever Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School Miss Valentine in 2002. In 2003, she was crowned Miss CCB Talent Teen. That same year she represented Anguilla in St. Kitts and won best evening wear. In 2004 she captured second place in the Miss Leeward Talented Teen held in Anguilla. Most recently Kafi was crowned Miss Anguilla 2007-2008, along with that title she became the 1st ever Miss Anguilla Social Security Board; as she was proudly sponsored by them as part of their celebration of 25 years of service to the people of Anguilla.
Up to this date Miss Anguilla has boldly represented the island of Anguilla in the Miss PJD2 pageant and has a number of pageants in which she intends to put her best foot forward and stride with greatness to make Anguilla proud.
This strong minded individual has contributed and will continue to contribute to Anguilla both culturally and professionally. Besides her determination, her strong belief in the protection of the environment will serve as a driving force towards achieving her goal.
Ultimately, Kafi is pursuing her dreams as she strives to contribute to her island wherever possible. She believes in educating the youth, particularly as it relates to the protection of our environment. As the old Native American saying goes “We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrowed it for our children.” Consequently, she will be challenged by her goal, which is to return to Anguilla and join the staff of the Fisheries and Marine Department as a Marine Biologist. She looks forward to assisting with the development of an ecotourism industry in Anguilla, and contributing to the region's sustainable development of coastal zones.
